Trip to Tizi Mzik

A moderate 5-6 hour trip to Tizi Mzik Pass and then back to Imlil.

There is also a private option all year round – just ask us here at the hotel.

Itinerary:

0900   Leave the riad and head across the Imlil Valley.

0930   Get to the main track near Kasbah du Toubkal (1,796m).

1030   Reach a small plateau (1,985m) with beautiful views of Imlil Valley.

1115   Find the Toubkal National Park sign (2,064m).

1230   Arrive Tizi n’Mzik pass (2,489m) and take a break.

1245   Start our descent, heading along the trail, but this time of the other side of the valley.

1330   Stop for our picnic.

1400   Trek up the trail to the Berber villages of Mzik (1,800) and Arhrene.

1500   Pass through the villages.

1530   Arrive back.

Details

This trip is a classic day walk around these parts. There is quite a bit of ascent (600m), but we still grade it as moderate with around 5 hours of walking.

This trek includes the Tizi n’Mzik Pass, the Aremd road, lots of opportunities for photos (including mountain scenery), visits to Berber villages (Mzik and Ahrene) plus a picnic lunch.
